Seven years after Geely purchases Volvo Cars

By Xuefei Chen Axelsson

DSC_8754STOCKHOLM, March 16 (Greenpost) – Seven years have passed after Chinese private car group Geely purchased Volvo in 2010 with the witness of Chinese President(then vice president) Xi Jinping in March 28, 2010.  What has happened after that? Especially under the circumstances that there were a lot of questions and suspicion among the Swedish Media and small enterprises which supply spare parts for Volvo Cars. Greenpost chief editor Xuefei Chen Axelsson has a followup about this purchase case.

The most successful international purchase case in the world

31031324732263Professor Fang Xiaohui from Business School of Stockholm University told Greenpost that  this is one of and probably the most successful international purchase case in the world looking at the achievements Volvo Cars has made and the experience of management.

“It shows the great Chinese wisdom embodied in Li Shufu, President of Geely Group’s management method. That is to let Swedish manage Volvo Cars and keep its DNA and continue to expand design and production,” said Professor Fang.

“The great achievement Li Shufu or Geely made is to keep the Volvo grow and many people are employed. This is a big success. Chinese enterprises can learn from this case and further utilize the world’s resources and talented people.” Fang continues to say.

Volvo Cars was established by Gustaf Larson and Assar Gabrilsson who used to work for SKF, a bearing company in Sweden and well-known in the world. Larson was an engineer and Gabrilsson was a sales manager.

These two people had great passion for cars and saw the great future and joined hands in September 1925 to persuade the board of directors of SKY to allow them to have an assembling workshop in Torslanda in west coast of Sweden. On April 14, 1927, Volvo Öv4 car model came to the market.

In 1935, Volvo became independent from SKF and produced both personal cars and vans and even trucks.

Volvo was the first company to invent and product safety belt. It is still inventing new types of children safety belt and seats even for babies.  Volvo’s ambition was zero death from Volvo cars.

Volvo has also been famous for the world’s safest cars and favorite cars in an European survey last year.

Li Shufu purchased the Volvo company with a price of 1.8 billion dollars actually from Ford corporation who bought Volvo from Swedish hands with a price of 6.45 billion dollars.

On August 2, 2010 when Ford finally transferred everything to Geely, Li Shufu promised that Geely is Geely and Volvo is Volvo. He will not take Volvo to China. But he will open two new factories to increase the production of new Volvo cars.

Professor Fang said Volvo’s success was based on the full utilization of the potential of the local human resources, international research and development resources, keeping the local workers and contribute greatly to local employment. This is of course welcomed by the Swedish side.  Of course it is also a guarantee of both quantity and quality of Volvo cars.

Last year SUV XC60 was sold very well globally and accounting for one third of the total sales. It was labelled as the favorite car by the Europeans.

Swedish media says Volvo flies up like a phoenix

The mainstream media DN used three pages in economic page to report Volvo’s development over the past 7 years.

First it says Volvo’s XC60 is participating the car exhibition in Geneva. And it gives a picture of the past years’ figure of Volvo personal cars.

From 2006 to 2009, Volvo cars experienced a financial crisis with a loss of 4.7 billion kronor.

In 2010, Ford sold Volvo to Geely and the turnover immediately increased to 2.3 billion kronor.

Then in 2012, there was a year that the result was stagnant.

But in 2015, the result was 6.6 billion and last year in 2016 it was 11 billion kronor.

In 2011, Stefan Jacoby was employed as CEO of Volvo Cars. He gave the first press conference that year. But due to various pressure, he was sick in 2012 and he was replaced by Swedish CEO Lars Samuelsson who will celebrate his 66 birthday this coming Sunday on March 19.

In 2013 and 2014, Daqing and Chengdu factories have been into operation respectively to produce XC 60 and XC90.

The total production surpassed half a million for the first time in 2015 and the profit reached 11 billion kronor in 2016, five times more than that in 2010.

Li Shufu was dubbed as Mr. Volvo Personal Car

Li Shufu has completely eliminated the worries of Swedish suppliers and workers by purchasing all the small suppliers too. Thus he was dubbed as Mr. Volvo Personal Car.

The future plan of Volvo  is to establish new factories in South Carolina in the United States. The production is expected to be 100 thousand per year.  And electric cars will be manufactured in 2019.

Meanwhile, an analysis in DN also warns Volvo cars that the background is that while Volvo sold 534332 cars globally, with an increase of 30 percent, Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz increased by 55% and 65%. Audi has increased production to 1.8 million cars by 266%  in 2016 since  1999.

Volvo’s next target is 800 thousand per year production capacity.

No matter how people compare,  Li Shufu who was born in 1963 has done a great job and his purchase of Volvo cars has been recorded in the history in international purchasing cases. His name will be listed in history forever as the first Chinese who has done such a big case abroad and done so well in the world.

Sino-Swedish relations can never be separated with Volvo and both Chinese and Swedish are talking about it.

Of course when a country becomes strong, the large enterprises or companies will naturally come out to purchase other companies, takingWang Jianlin as an example.

But the long term question is how to keep the result and do even better to make it last for a century, but not like the US or Japanese companies, to devour the other company when it is strong, but after about ten years, it has to give up due to poor operation.

Li Keqiang answers journalists questions for China 2017

By Xuefei Chen Axelsson

STOCKHOLM, March. 15 (Greenpost)– As usual, Chinese Premier gave a two hour press conference briefing journalists from all over China and all over the world about China’s overall action plan and China’s view on many questions journalists are interested in through 19 questions.

265256898_8

Premier was very frank and direct in answering various questions.

About China-US relations asked by CNN, he said he is still optimistic about relations between China and the United States. He said despite twists and turns between the two countries over the past years, Sino-US relations are still going forward.

He said one fundamental political foundation for Sino-US relations is one China policy. With this as a foundation,  China and US can further negotiate about economic and trade issues.

About Trump’s remarks of China stealing US jobs and currency exchange rate, Li Keqiang said as far as he knew, about more than 90 percent of the enterprise profit in China has been taken by the US and China only gained 2-3 percent.  Just last year, China has provided one million jobs to the US. Maybe the statistics from the two sides are different because they used different methods to calculate. But both Americans and Chinese are wise people and they should use their wisdom to talk about the dispute between them.  No matter what happened, the two sides should use their wisdom to expand their common interest.

265257336_8

He also answered questions relating to laidoff workers due to reduction of production capacity and closing down factories,  providing more jobs, innovation and establishment of businesses, currency exchange rate, finance, Sino-Russian relations, Asian Pacific regions’ order, relations across the Taiwan Straits,  tense situation in the Korean Peninsula,  China’s Property law on 70 years ownership and so on. In total, 19 journalists from China and abroad asked questions and Premier Li answered including one from France.

265259377_8It is interesting to see that how Chinese government has changed and treated media with interesting sequences.  The first question was asked by CNN on Sino-US relations.

It is an open secret that all the questions are almost set  and the CNN was picked up first to ask questions. That is an important signal that China pays great attention to questions relating to Sino-US relations while the European journalist was given a chance in the end.

Caixin, a new media was given a chance much earlier than the Xinhua journalist. It looks very much a random choice, but it covers all the areas journalists are interested in and what the Chinese government likes to say.

265259378_8

Of course, Premier Li is very open and frank with journalists and answered all the questions including the sensitive Taiwan and Korean issues.

About relations across the Taiwan Streets, Li said Chinese government’s attitude towards Taiwan has been consistent and will issue more policies to improve better communication between the two sides. Last year alone, about  five million tourists from the mainland to visit Taiwan Island.

No matter what happens, with one China policy as basis,  the people between the two sides belongs to the same family of Chinese and the blood ties are a good bond between the two sides.

265259509_8

On the Korean Peninsula issue, Premier Li said China’s principle is that there should be no nuclear proliferation in the peninsula. China is implementing the UN resolution on Korean issue.

“China hopes that all sides should relax now and sit down around the table to talk about it and solve the problem through negotiation.  With the tense situation, it is easy to resort to arms, but it will be harmful for both sides.” said Li.

265266305_8

About laidoff workers, Li said those workers enjoy some subsidies from their original companies and they are also looking for new jobs.  Meanwhile, they get subsidies from the government too.

Li has stressed that in many occasions that those extremely poor families without any one earning an income should get supported by the local government and the society.

265266326_8

About questions of the property rights, he said after 70 years of owership, Chinese people still have the right to own their apartments or houses and enjoy the right to sell them.  Relevant departments are drawing new laws to guarantee this.

In 2003, when Premier Wen Jiabao was in power, journalists ask the same questions and he said if we say it doesn’t change for 50 years, it will not change forever.  He refers to the contract of mountains and fields peasants own.  Now the questions relate to ownership of properties in cities because China has built so many houses and buildings over the past 17 years or about 20 years.

In the end, Li also answered a question about air pollution. He called on the people to help and make joint efforts to solve this problem.

“We are in developing period, we have the development pressure, but we have made several action plans and we shall do our best to make the sky blue so that the blue sky should not become a luxury.” Li answered this question to a New Beijing Newspaper reporter.

China’s bike-sharing industry braces for explosive growth

By Qiang Wei from People’s Daily

STOCKHOLM, March6(Greenpost)–China’s bike-sharing industry has embraced an explosive growth since last year. Data showed that by the end of last year, millions of bikes offered by over 20 bike-sharing companies have expanded their service to nearly 19 million users.

Picture1

The bike-sharing service enables users to find, unlock and pay to rent the bicycles through a smartphone app. Mobike and Ofo are among the two largest of a growing crop of private bike-sharing operators.

Ofo, the company behind the yellow two-wheelers, announced on 1st March that it has raised 3.1 billion yuan ($450 million) in a fresh round of funding. It not only represents the largest single deal in terms of fund raised by a bike-sharing firm, but also swells the firm to the industry’s richest unicorn, a start-up company valued at over 1 billion dollars.

Public bike is not a fresh thing. Many Chinese cities have launched public bikes previously to meet the citizens’ demands for the “last mile” of public transportation, but congested public space and complicated procedures restrained the pace of such efforts.

Unlike the services provided by local governments, users of the newly emerging shared bikes like Orange-hued Mobike can find and pay for bicycles via a smartphone app and then leave them wherever they want. The location of the bike will be recorded by the data platforms, so that the next users can find one easily.

The economical and convenient service also responds to China’s call for green, energy-saving transportation, attracting a host of fans due to its convenience and low price.

These bikes, a combination of sharing-economy, high-technology and market demands, also provide the outside world a glimpse into China’s huge potential in sharing economy.

PwC’s projections show that five key sharing sectors—travel, car sharing, finance, staffing, and music and video streaming—have the potential to increase global revenues to around 335 billion dollars by 2025, over 20 times higher than the number in 2016.

The latest report released by McKinsey & Company on China’s sharing economy revealed that shared transportation is gaining wide popularity in the Chinese market, while office space and technology sharing is rising.

So far, China’s sharing economy is applied in transportation, office space, skills and finance, while segment fields including car-hailing, bike-sharing, car-sharing and apartment-renting are growing in a faster pace.

China accelerates reform to boost senior service industry

By Li Ning from People’s Daily

Stockholm, March. 6(Greenpost)–By further streamlining administration and delegating power, strengthening supervision and improving the service level, China will mobilize social forces to participate in the development of elderly care industry, lower the institutional cost for entrepreneurship and create a fair development environment, according to a policy paper released by relevant Chinese authorities recently.

Picture1

On Oct. 8, 2016, the day before China’s traditional Double Ninth Festival when people show respect to the elderly, resident troops made dumplings and watched shows with senior citizens at a nursing home in Qingdao, Shandong province. (Photo by People’s Daily)

The Notice on Accelerating the Reform on the Entry, Supervision and Service Level of the Senior Service Industry was released by thirteen departments, including Ministry of Civil Affairs, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Land and Resources and National Elderly Work Committee Office.

Now entering into an aging society, China has huge demands for the elderly nursing industry. In 2015, the number of senior aged over 60 in China reached 220 million, accounting for 16.1 percent of the total population.

The quality of the industry concerns over 200 million senior citizens, especially the over 40 million incapacitated or semi- incapacitated elderly.

However, the sheer quantity and quality of China’s senior service supply still fall short of the increasing demand for the industry. China is now still headache with inaccessibility of urban and rural public facilities, as well as insufficient supply of senior products.

Other than a livelihood project involving the welfare of billions of people, the senior service industry is also a rising business with great potential.

At the end of last year, the Chinese State Council released a guideline on widening the access of the senior service market and improving the quality of senior service, requiring the service to orient towards community, rural areas as well as incapacitated and semi-incapacitated senior citizens.

Nursing care resources should be further expanded and the development of small-sized and professional chain service agencies should be vigorously supported, read the guideline.

To address the short boards in senior service, the guideline also pointed out that for community senior service, China will speed up the construction of a comprehensive service information platform and provide such home service as meal assistance, cleaning assistance, walking aid, bathing assistance and medical assistance.

Small-sized community nursing homes are encouraged to meet the needs of senior citizens within close proximity as well.

Enjoying Chinese Cuisine in Mandarin Paradis in Stockholm

By Xuefei Chen Axelsson

STOCKHOLM, Feb. 20(Greenpost) – Mandarin Paradis Restaurant sits nearby with a walk of less than 20 minutes. Due to my summer job as an interpretor, I sometimes went to Mandarin Paradis with my customers. It tastes good! Thus, I like to have a visit now.

DSC_8178On a recent sunny day, I came over to Mandarin Paradis Restaurant. With the yellow words on red board, it was easy to recognize that it is a Chinese Restaurant.

DSC_8163As we entered the room, one can easily see the clean marble table with the reflection of flowers and apartments from outside.

DSC_8122Heng Yun Mei Shi or Mandarin Paradis Chinese Cuisine made of golden coating is written on the wall with a small happiness tie hanging in the middle.

DSC_8158However, on the other side of the wall, there are western sculptures and art works coexisting.

DSC_8126

It is like on this table, a Chinese and a Swedish sit by the same table happily.

DSC_8097

Mandarin Paradis is easy to recognize in this Swedish densely populated area. According to my understanding, Swedish city planning didn’t allow any restaurant to show more than the other but will all the businesses or restaurants compete fairly and have a harmonious city environment. However, something red and yellow is easily seen as a Chinese flavour.

DSC_8152

Zhou Minwei has lived in Sweden for 17 years and during this period of time he has opened three restaurants with one being managed by his wife and the other now by his sister. How can you keep your customers? In other words, what is your secret to make the best restaurant?

DSC_8168

“Our goal is not to make the best restaurant, but we shall make our best to manage our restaurant. We don’t make advertisement, but put the money into providing the best food we can.

DSC_8124

When the customer is satisfied, he will tell his friend and they will come here again. ”

DSC_8101

He said most customers are Swedish. Chinese customers only come in summer for a short period.

DSC_8166

“Most time, we have Swedish customers, otherwise, we can’t go on. But the Swedish cannot eat Chinese food all the time. It is the same as our Chinese cannot eat western food all the time. Therefore, we provide both western food and Chinese food. We have professional western cook. With both Chinese and Swedish food, we can meet the demand from our customers.”

DSC_8121

But in the evening, there will be typical Chinese food. People can order any dish they like, while for lunch it is buffet.

DSC_8128This is a good starter with black svamp and green saker. Black svamp is a good dish that cleans the intestent and stomach.

Zhou Weimin was born in Qingtian, Zhejiang Province, East China. He grew up in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province. After he graduated from college, he learnt to be a cook while working at normal time. He can cook Hangzhou cuisine which is famous in China.

DSC_8131 Dongpo Pork he cooked is an excellent dish. He often cuts it in an inch cubic form with meagre meat a little more than fatty meat. He imports these kind of pork from Germany. Swedish pork is a little bit fattier. He often stews the pork for four hours with small fire so that the fat is almost all coming out. Thus the pork he made is very delicious to taste and not of much fat.

DSC_8136

This is fried green beans which is neither too salty nor lack of salt, just lagom.

DSC_8147

This is fried prawn which is very crispy and can be eaten with the shells. One can gain calcium from it.

DSC_8143

This is fish cooked with sour cabbage. This tastes a little different from the one cooked in northern China, it is Hangzhou taste, Sweet sour, lagom salt, lagom taste!

DSC_8130

Biff stewed with all kinds of ingredients was cooled and then cut into pieces. Dim it with soy sauce, taste good but not fat.

These dishes look very much like typical home made dishes. When man taste them, they are typical Hangzhou cuisine. Without purposely appealing to Swedish taste, Zhou Minwei provides typical Chinese dishes. Swedish doesn’t need to fly to China to taste typical Chinese food, they can taste it here.

DSC_8159

“I think the best is to be honest and down to earth. In fact, Swedish people are also very diligent and sometimes, I feel my neighbour works even harder and longer time than me. We provide good Chinese dishes to them so that they can taste them themselves, gradually, they will be interested in Chinese cuisine and culture. This is also a sense of relief for ourselves. No matter where we go, we keep our Chinese traditional cuisine and culture. Good traditions from our ancestor should not be forgotten. Otherwise, no matter how much money you earn, it will not be considered successful!” said Zhou Minwei.

DSC_8156

Of Course, we should adapt to Swedish culture and society too, Zhou said proudly. “I have a capable and kind hearted wife and a daughter and a son. I have always encouraged my children to study Swedish culture and melt in Swedish society. Meanwhile, they should not forget their homeland and have a Chinese heart. ”

DSC_8162

Born in the 1960 talet, Zhou felt he belonged to the lucky generation seeing opening up of China and the great changes taking place in China. China’s living standards are improving day by day. On the other hand, he said we also belong to the generation which is a little bit proud and satisfied with their life may be because our childhood was too poor but we had a lot of free playing time and space, thus, we feel happy as long as we made some progress. We are not too ambitious, we are used to simple life, we like to be with the nature and are willing to keep good Chinese tradition.

Investing in China still pays

By Xuefei Chen Axelsson

Stockholm, Feb.6(Greenpost)– What makes economy grow?  Investment. In 1994, I started a program at China Radio International. It was called Investing in China. I chose the music and I wrote every report. At that time, China opened its arms and welcomed any investment she can get.

The early stage investment mostly came from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Japan as well as many other Asian and European and American companies. Mostly overseas Chinese. In 1996, Citrön car from France settled in Wuhan, Hubei Province and Singapore Industrial Park just started to build.

Zhejiang and Jiangsu province were the vanguard of the provinces that attracted foreign investment. It proved that wherever the investment goes, there will be rapid growth.

After five years attracting investment for basic production, China survived Southeast Asian financial crisis. Why? Fan Gang, a famous Chinese economist said China produced a lot of basic products or low end of goods which are necessities, thus it is not affected by economic crisis.

The same is true.  My classmate opened a grocery store and sold milk to local Canadian customers. During 2008 financial storm, she continued to earn money and was not affected very much.  Whenever there is a crisis, it often affects the luxurious products.

In the current world, the production capacity was too much. Why can that happen? I think there are three reasons. One is the wrong calculation or planning of the National Reform and Development Commission. The other is the corruption which means unnecessary projects carried out due to bad intention. The third is the idea of Great Leap Forward to continue to keep fast growth.

The growth is still very fast in China, but the side effects are huge. The environment is a key side effect. The other is the hectic life style.  During the 1980s, Chinese people lived a very cozy, inefficient but kind of slow life while people in America worked 17 hours a day and many democrats didn’t like it.

Now the Chinese worked so hard while people in the west realised that was not sustainable. Many people become old now.

Has China been saturated in investment? I don’t think so at all. There is still room to build schools, kindergartens, hospitals, elderly homes, swimming pools, sports playgrounds and many more.  There will be more need in home services, elderly services, psychological services and good parks in the small towns or countryside.

I believe there will be a trend that more people like to go back to the countryside or remain in the countryside.  Big cities are too big to be comfortable.  Too many cars to avoid smog.

It is also imperative to collect rain water and build artificial lakes wherever possible.

Investment in the poor areas is still necessary. Once every village has safe drinking water, safe decent toilet and good road, swimming pool and playground, or cinema, then I will say China’s development will enter a slow 2 or 3 percent growth.  Thus investing in China still pays, in my opinion.

The aim of the project #DesigninPine is to use Swedish design to support the export of Swedish sawn timber. The project is also about promoting Swedish pine as a natural and renewable material from sustainable forestry – a material that is perfect for furniture production in a world with such a strong focus on a sustainable society.

“The ease of use and visual look of pine makes it ideal for forward-looking design which, combined with the sustainability aspect, is a key factor in raising the status of Swedish coniferous wood, both in Sweden and in export markets such as China,” says Charlotte Dedye Apelgren, Director of Interior and Design at Swedish Wood.

Over a few intense weeks in autumn 2016, the third-year students in furniture design at Malmstens worked to design furniture for the Chinese market, using Swedish pine. The project has also involved the Chinese furniture companies Huari Furniture and Fujian Dushi Homelife Group. They provided knowledge of the young Chinese target group and the market and about industrial furniture manufacture, as well as producing the prototypes.

Despite the geographical distance, the project has involved close collaboration, with discussions on materials, surface treatments, sketches and plans enabling the furniture manufacturers to produce the prototypes that will be unveiled for the first time at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair.

“Malmstens has long had an ambition to enable the students to work on design assignments in an international arena. This collaboration with Swedish Wood has now made that a reality. In the project #DesigninPine, the students have had to tackle new parameters such as East meets West and the cultural and social differences that entails, as well as adapting their designs for large-scale industrial furniture manufacture,” explains Leó Jóhannsson, lecturer in furniture design at Malmstens.

The furniture project #DesigninPine will be displayed on the Malmstens stand VH01:46 in the Greenhouse during the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, 7-11 February 2017.

Swedish Wood spreads knowledge, provides inspiration and encourages development relating to wood, wood products and wood construction. The goal is to increase the use of wood in Sweden and in selected international markets through information and inspiration. Swedish Wood also aims to highlight wood as a competitive, eco-friendly and sustainable material. Swedish Wood is a department within The Swedish Forest Industries Federation. Swedish Wood is supported by the Swedish sawmill and glulam industries.

Carl Malmsten Furniture Studies, commonly known as Malmstens, offers four undergraduate programmes: in Furniture Design, Cabinetmaking, Furniture Upholstery and Furniture Conservation. The learning environment maintains an openness between the programmes. The students’ opportunities to collaborate and seek out new solutions ensure a holistic approach and a good understanding of the various aspects of furniture and professional roles. The students have unique opportunities to develop their craft, art and intellect. There is a shared focus on furniture and wood, based on concepts such as material knowledge, quality and sustainability, factors that in the long term may influence, and in the best case improve, people’s everyday lives.

Malmstens has been part of Linköping University since 2000 and is located on Lidingö.

Xi Jinping’s remarks at Davos World Economic Forum

STOCKHOLM, Jan. 17(Greenpost)–Chinese President Xi Jinping has given over 50 minutes keynote speech at the World Economic Forum held in Davos in Switzerland.

In front of hundreds of leaders around the world, Xi Jinping illustrated his view of the world and gave his promise and solutions to the world.

The following is some of his remarks and shows his views in a very clear and simple way.

No one will emerge as the winner in a trade war, Chinese President Xi Jinping says criticising the trade protectionism.

The world is changing, China is changing. About 200 years ago, the British Empire sent officials to Beijing to ask Qianlong to trade with Great Britain and accept their goods. Qian long said my world has everything and we don’t need your goods so we don’t trade with you.

Now Xi Jinping stands at the podium of the Davos World Economic Forum said we will open to the world and the world should open to China, let’s trade with each other.

Many of the problems troubling the world are not caused by economic globalization, President of China Xi Jingping tells。

Pursuing protectionism is like locking oneself in a dark room: while wind & rain may be kept outside so are light and air: Xi Jinping

China has no intention to boost its trade development by devaluing the Renminbi, still less by launching a currency war: Xi Jinping

When encountering difficulty we should not complain, blame others, or run away from responsibilities, Xi Jinping tells。

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is unfolding at an exponential rather than a linear pace, says Xi Jinping, President of China.

The Paris climate deal is a hard won agreement – all signatories should stick to it rather than walk away, Xi Jinping tells.

Chinese President Xi Jinping tells  household consumption and the service sector have become the main drivers of growth.

Strong message from President Xi Jinping on need for collaboration, reconciliation and stability. Vital in today’s world, twitter of Paul Polman.

Why did American prefer Trump to Clinton?

By Xuefei Chen Axelsson

STOCKHOLM, Nov. 9(Greenpost)– The republican candidate Donald Trump won the American election with 278 seats against Hilary Clinton with 218 seats in the senate.

Trump not only won Florida and Texas, the bases of republicans but also Missicippi and other states. Why did American prefer Trump to Clinton since many expected Clinton would win at the beginning?

In fact, at the beginning, many Americans were disappointed with the politicians no matter who ran for it. But as the battle became heated and the fighting against each other is getting more fierce, that stirred up a lot of interests in the process.

When people think of Hilery Clinton, she is considered an experience politician who has been Secretary of State and Senator. Her husband Bill Clinton used to be president and she was the first lady. However, Bill Clintons sex scandal let him down and Hilerys toughness made a lot of men tended to the republicans especially in Texas and Florida.

People donot like Trump because they dont know about Trump. They only heard his sharp words.  And Americans like that. They rather like a mad dog biting than an arrogant but not honest dog.

As a businessman Trump understand very well what people want and he just said what they like to have while Hilerys remarks might be thought as a cliche.

American people like excitement and like something surprising. So they chose Trump because they dont know how good or how bad he can be. So they gave him a chance.

Trump said he will unite America and work for all the people. His tone sounds better when he won.

People got to see what he will do instead of just listen to what he said.

DayMe Home AB Participates in Maison Object in Paris

By Xuefei Chen Axelsson

Stockholm, Sept. 5(Greenpost)-As a home design company in Sweden, DayMe Home AB are participating in Maison Object in Paris for the first time and its environmentally friendly home products are welcomed by many dealers at the ongoing exhibition.

image1DayMe Home AB pays great attention to Chinese market development and cooperation. Last year, its CEO Jasper Zhang began to try to combine the Swedish design with Chinese traditional dyeing technology to realise mass production with modern technology and provide the public with many environmentally-friendly home products.

sdr”C’est tres jolie! C’est beau!” It’s really beautiful! Many French people exclaimed when they saw the children’s clothes and touched them gently.

The staff of DayMe felt very proud to tell the dealers that babies can ”eat” these clothes without any worries of chemicals.

image2

During the exhibition, DayMe’s children and home products characterised by environmentally-friendly concept and fashion design attracted a lot of dealers from many countries including Danmark,  France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Russia, South Korea, Spain and the United States.

sdrJanice Liang, Operation Manager of DayMe explained to Green Post in a written interview that the cotton used to make these clothes is 100 percent natural and organic from the field. It has won GOTS certificates.

”The dyeing process uses natural plants-extracted dyeing material and even its additives are extracted from plants and minerals,” said Janice.

”Those who are familiar with textile industry call it an environmental technology revolution in textile industry. China’s traditional herbs Radix is an important component in dyeing material. Different colors are extracted from different plants, but almost all the dyeing materials use radix, thus it not only has no heavy metal, fragrances, formaldehyde or fluorescent agents, but also can somewhat resist bacteria,” said Janice.

”The virtue of our plant dyeing technology is obvious. First, it avoids the discharge of poisonous waste water because it uses supersonic vibration technology in dyeing process. It substantially reduced the environmental impact from the production process and in a way protects the earth we all rely on. Due to the use of radix and turmeric herbs as dyeing material, the products can resist bacteria to certain degrees, ” said Janice.

”I thought only Chinese people knew that some herbs can resist bacteria. But when I talked with many dealers from various countries, I found they all have recognised that some herbs have the function of resisting bacteria. Mothers don’t need to worry about their babies ’eating’ the clothes because there is no chemicals in it,” Liang said it with a kind of pride.

”Secondly, it’s also a blessing for allergic children because it doesn’t have any source to cause allergy,” said Liang.

Liang said from the design perspective, it has the Nordic style of being simple, practical and taking users’ experience into consideration.

”Sweden is a country that pays great attention to environmental protection. As a Nordic brand of children clothes and home products, to be environmentally friendly and comfortable are our priorities, and maybe that’s why many dealers pay attention to us at Maison Object exhibition,” said Liang.

Earlier this year, DayMe Home products aroused great attention from Swedish industries when it participated in the Formex exhibition in Stockholm.

And now it is participating in the Maison Object exhibition in Paris to introduce its new technology and products to its European dealers for the first time.

Maison Object  in Paris is a famous home products exhibition in the world and has a long history.

U.S. Professor Rose receives her Stockholm Water Prize

By Xuefei Chen Axelsson
Stockholm, Sept. 1 (Greenpost)–Professor Joan B. Rose from American Michigan State University received her Stockholm Water Prize from the hands of the Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf in Stockholm City Hall on Wednesday.
Rose won the prize  for her tireless contributions to global public health; by assessing risks to human health in water and creating guidelines and tools for decision-makers and communities to improve global wellbeing.

She was treated as a good example of translating scientific achievement into policies and applied in communities.

In its citation, The Stockholm Water Prize Nominating Committee said that “The nexus of water-related microbiology, water quality and public health is rife with uncertainty – in both theory and practice. The world is blessed with few individuals who can tackle the increasing and changing challenges to clean water and health, starting from state-of-the-art science through dedicated and original research, then moving to professional dissemination, effective lobbying of the legislative arena, influencing practitioners, and raising the general awareness. Joan Rose is the leading example of this extremely rare blend of talents.”

After she received the Prize, Professor Rose said she was honored.

“As an individual it is an honour and I am overflowing with gratitude. But it means even more, because it is a prize that honours water, it honours the blue planet and it honours the human condition. Therefore, I am very proud”.

Joan Rose is widely regarded as the world’s foremost authority on the microorganism Cryptosporidium. In 1993, the largest outbreak to date of the intestinal parasite Cryptosporidium affected more than 400 000 people in Milwaukee, US, who got sick from contaminated drinking water. 69 people died in the outbreak. Cryptosporidium, which exists in both humans and animals, cannot be killed by chlorine, and lives for several months.

Professor Rose and her team, whom she calls “water detectives” investigate waterborne disease outbreaks globally, to determine how they can be stopped, and prevented. She was the first person to present the widespread occurrence ofCryptosporidium in water supplies in 1988.

“More than two billion people still lack adequate sanitation, and over one billion lack access to safe drinking water. Hundreds of thousands of deaths from diarrhoeal diseases each year could be prevented by improved water, sanitation and hygiene. Joan Rose, our water hero, is a beacon of light in the quest for securing a better, healthier life for this and future generations,” commented SIWI’s Executive Director Torgny Holmgren.

Talking about what she believes is the world’s greatest water challenge, Professor Rose said: “I think it is going to be the reversal of water quality problems around the world; the algal blooms in fresh water and coastal waters, and the pollution, not just associated with humans, but also with disease outbreaks among our wildlife, like amphibians and fish. I also think reconnecting water and food security will be a major challenge. We are starting to do it but it will definitely continue to be a challenge.”

Professor Rose was key in establishing the 2004 WHO Drinking Water Standard, setting out a new WHO paradigm with direct impact on virtually all countries; Rose also worked in Malawi and Kenya to help translate these into local regulation. UNESCO’s International Hydrological Program asked for her leadership in meeting its goals of resource management and capacity building for Member States. She chaired a specialist group within the International Water Association to ensure understanding and incorporation of updated standards at the state and national level in engineer standards around the world. Her expertise in identifying and prioritizing issues of water quality led to codification of the Great Lakes Water Quality agreement. She Chairs Singapore’s Water Audit Panel of the influential Public Utilities Board; Canada and Korea sought her guidance. And to use today’s technology, she established an online collective of 140 scientists in the Global Water Pathogens Project.

The Stockholm Water Prize is a global award founded in 1991 and presented annually by Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) to an individual, organization or institution for outstanding water-related achievements. H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden is patron of the prize. The Stockholm Water Prize Founders, united in their strong conviction to drive sustainability in the water sector, are: Bacardi, Borealis & Borouge, Europeiska ERV, HP, Kemira, Poul Due Jensen Foundation, Ragn-Sells, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), Snecma/Safran, Water Environment Federation (WEF), Xylem and Ålandsbanken.
